Tile Forums

I used to run a tile forum whilst running a tiling training centre which got a little busy due to the high traffic from course delegates. Since parting company with the partner in crime at the time I’ve seen a couple pop-up and hoped they would do well but a year or so later and John Bridge still rules in the tile forums game and that’s not good enough for UK tiler wanna-bee’s in my opinion.
So… here we are, in the start of a new month, and here it is, the start of the best tilers forums in the UK. I present to you…. Tilers Forums. Using a fresh domain name www.tilersforums.co.uk rather than any old ones I still have to ensure its ownership is 100% my own. This will be busier than my other forums including the famous T.V. covered DIY Place the diy and home improvements community.
The forum is designed to give an unbiased view of tiling such as ceramic and stone (including marble, granite, slates etc) tiling but also the products used for the job and the tools required to carry out the tiling work. With most tile forums in 2006 you tend to find they either have a training centre or a tile store and in a couple of cases both so when you get advice from them and the reply is something along the lines of…
Yes that’s the correct way to do it but you may need to use this tool from our tool shop or come on this course to learn how to do it properly.
Which may look like good advice from the naked eye but really if you look closer, they just want to take a grand off you for a tiling course and a few hundred quid off you for the tools required. Now… if you’re going to become a real tiler and actually charge for it, I’d certainly consider joining a reputable tiling course, but not one that can get you advertised somewhere cheaper (PITT & Place 4, PTS & Their Associates) or cheaper business cards or some nice new signwriting on your van. If you’re really going on a tiling course, go on a tiling course that just does tiling courses!!!
As for my new tile forums, wish me luck, it’s a harsh world in the ‘i wanna be the best tile forum’ world and I expect it probably will not be much fun right from the start. You ask why i bother then? Well, I bother because my heart was really set in to it at PITT and I couldn’t take the tile forums with me so I just left it, looking at it now, it’s a mess, a real mess, they use CAPS LOCK for half the text, bold for others, small case for the rest, most of the ‘forum’ links actually go to their business-finding websites to try and sell you something and blah blah blah (I could go on for hours but I don’t want to provide an ‘improvements list’ for them, they can work out how shit there forum is in time). So …. I bother because I want to take first place again, something I can and will do
The link again…….. www.TilersForums.co.uk - professional and DIY advice that isn’t from a guy who makes money from selling training courses or tiling tools.
